Commercial storefront glass is one of the most specialized areas of glazing work — and one where contractor licensing matters most. As C-17 licensed glazing contractors, we can legally pull permits, work on commercial properties, and certify installations to California building code. Storefront glass systems use different glass types than residential work. Standard storefronts use 1/4" annealed or tempered glass in aluminum framing systems. High-traffic entries, glass doors, and sidelites adjacent to doors must use safety glazing (tempered or laminated) per CBC Section 2406. If your storefront glass was installed before 1977, there's a reasonable chance it doesn't meet current safety glazing requirements — something to know if you're doing any renovation work that would trigger a permit inspection.
