The Problem
A vehicle jumped the curb and struck the front storefront of a family-owned restaurant in the San Fernando Valley, shattering approximately 12 feet of tempered storefront glass. The impact happened at 10:30 a.m. on a Tuesday — the lunch rush was in two hours and the dinner reservation book was full. The restaurant's general manager called American Glass Experts immediately after calling the police.
The Solution
Our crew was on-site within 90 minutes. We assessed the damage, confirmed tempered safety glass specifications, and dispatched a second vehicle to our supplier to pull the right glass in the correct thickness and dimensions. The shattered glass was removed, the aluminum frame inspected for damage (minor — one section required re-squaring), and the new tempered panels were cut, fitted, and sealed on-site. We swept and cleaned the immediate area before leaving.
The Result
The restaurant opened for lunch with a boarded temporary panel in one corner while the second frame section cured, and was fully glass by 4:00 p.m. — two hours before the first dinner reservation. The job was complete in under six hours from first call to finished installation. The general manager noted that their previous contractor had quoted a 3-day lead time for a similar repair.
